Down below you can see who left us a comment
on X11amp before. If you have a nice or maybe NOT a nice comment, add it in the Guestbook.
Well.. since some of you guys added html source in here I'm FORCED to point out the we will NOT accept ANY outside links/pics, requests of mp3's or ANYTHING that doesn't have anything todo with the x11amp project!
This is a guestbook, NOT a freaking add wall!
Wow, version 0.65 is great ! I'm much more impressed by these recents improvements in stability than by the PlEd or the spectrum analyzer...
Keep doing that well.

My god this rox so hard... all the 22khz problems are gone (incorrect
slider position) , it doesn't lock hard anymore, it doesn't randomly
stop and refuse to play, and it doesn't lag and chop anymore...
I'm so happy I could cry. thanx guys.

Great job guys! One thing though, you can load playlists x11amp made, but wouldn't it make more sense if you could also load pre-made playlists? I burn cd's with playlists on them (m3u format) and it really would be convenient if I would be able to use
those.

Soo.. The problem is taht you ripped the winamp look? And now you can't realease the source.. Hmm.. Why don't you just change the looks of it.. If ya intressted in an alternative look check out: http://www.algonet.se/~mayhem/amp/snap.gif
I made this one for winamp (it works really well) But what the heck..

oooops
forgot something important: what about adding joystick-control to
x11amp, like the function you can have for winamp with the joy-plugin?
it's really relaxed when you can stay in bed, zapping mp3's with your
joypad...
it would also be really cool if winamps 'windowshade' mode
could be added - it simply takes less space on jyour desktop.

Nice proggie ;-) Something I'd like to have would be some
possibility to switch off the spectrum analyzer ... I just
have a P100 which is rather busy (with latexing, compiling ...)
so it just takes some CPU-time I don't have ... something
else would be some way to recursively collect mp3 files in
the playlist editor ... I use a hierarchy like artist/songname
so it's too much work to insert some hundred files into a
playlist ...

Lots of interesting new quirks in 0.62 .. :) It seems as if
the only sure time I'll be able to play an MP3 without
risking the program closing would be to go through the
Play List Editor; has anyone else had any similar problems?
I didn't have this problem in version 0.5. I've also had
program close when I tried to "add" a song. Another problem
I've encountered was when I hit the "load all" button,
nothing would play; it seems as if the only way to play some
tunes stabley would be to go through the PED in this version.

I've been playing with 0.62 for some time now, and I have

oh who cares?? splay on my system takes 1% of my cpu,
while .5 x11amp takes 15%, and .6 x11amp takes 20%. Its not
like I need the 100% of the cpu all the time, so who cares.
If x11amp looks nice, then i don't care if it took 90% of my cpu
even tho then it would suck more than winamp. :)
Chris <roler@krash.net>
- Wednesday, February 11, 1998 at 07:30:30 (GMT)
Is it me, or does .6 take up 10-15% more CPU than the .5?
The analyzer is fancy and all, but if its going to cost me
10-15% cpu, then whats the point. Its not like I'm going to
stare at the analyzer when music is playing anyways...
Just my $.02

Um...what's going on here? NO GPL'd source code? Why not?
How does the GPL restrict you from using the WINAMP look?
You know -- a long time ago a court ruled that Microsoft was
not guilty of copying the Macintosh look (even though they
were) , they stated that "look and feel" could not be
patented, or copyrighted. So, if you are not breaking the
law by giving out X11AMP with the WINAMP look, then why are
you worried about using the GPL? You guys aren't scared we
might use your code are you? Also: What type of license is
it? Are you making it yourselves? Oh well -- one more thing:
the spectrum analyzer doesn't seem to be as sensitive as it
should. Also: most of the spectrum "stuff" is all on the
left side of the box. Well, can't wait for version 0.[789]
AWESOME! Simply awesome! Now -- we're all waiting for a
digital equilizer - and button widgets that behave the way
they really should!

Just a quick question... I was planning on porting the 0.6

and also, X11Amp is standalone right? Not a frontend to another
program? Thanks.

Great thing, X11Amp! As all the others, I can't wait 'till 0.6 is released! :-)
I got a little suggestion as far as the Warf module is concerned. You wonder whether you should put a volume meter of a volume setting in it. Why not do both? Normally it will be a meter, if you click-hold, the volume setting will show, click-drag will ad
just the volume setting. Sounds good enough? :-)
Thimo Jansen <teejay@ferrenzo.student.utwente.nl>
- Sunday, February 08, 1998 at 16:47:02 (GMT)
I was only curious about the behavior of the button widgets
that you are using for X11AMP. Unfortunately -- it seems as
though you are not getting the mail I am sending (or not
responding at that matter) -- anyway -- the button behavior
is not correct. If you click a button, and hold the mouse,
and move the mouse off the button -- it should move the
button back up. This is a standard in button behavior.
Please make it part of 0.6!!!! I'M STILL WAITING FOR 0.6!!!

I mailed you people a couple of times but apparently my mail never gets through. so, where's the source? you _are_ going to GPL it, right? I trust you will, the GPL explicitly requires any program that uses GPL code (like, say, my seeker function) to b
e GPL itself.

This is most PIMP MP3 player I have ever used...IT GOES SO
FAST! I really love the work you guys are doing. The player
is AWESOME. I love the front end -- WINAMP has a nice look,
but X11AMP is the same and better because it GOES so fast,
and it never gets jumpy during play like WINAMP does. Not
only easy to use, it's going to be even WAY better when 0.6
comes out with the playlist editor!!! The WHARF interface is
also a VERY good idea.

Well! This is quite a suprise. Initially I tossed x11amp
in the bin because it didn't come with source.. :P And it
only ran suid, didn't dock properly or have windowless
support for WindowMaker. I hear all or most of these
problems are going to be fixed in 0.6, which I eagerly
anticipate. BTW, I shaved 3% cpu usage off amp by using
pgcc 1.01 with -O9 -mpentium, on my P133! :) Which is why
I like source, and of course I have glibc2...

GREAT JOB GUYS!,.. keep it up, ... i loved winamp when i was a lowly windoze user, and now that i'm a enlightened linux user, i'm glad i can finally use my favourite mp3 player gui again!
I can't wait for new things, and hopefully you'll get up to the standard of what winamp is currently at! (that would be awesome)
Whatever you guys do, don't stop working on this!, it's BRILLIANT
